Earlier this month the provincial government announced $90 million in funding for hospitals.
MPP Todd Smith was at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital today to announce how much is coming to the region.
Quinte Health Care has been approved for one time funding of $2.8 million to help end hallway healthcare.
MPP Todd Smith made the announcement and says it works out to 23 beds.
The timing is ideal as flu season approaches and Quinte Health Care sees an approximate increase of 30% of patients during the flu season.
Smith also announced 128 long term care beds are coming to the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte as part of the 15,000 new long term care beds over the next five years.
The 128 beds are part of an initial 6,000 long term care beds announced for the province.
QHC President and CEO Mary Clare Egberts says this funding sends a clear message to their care providers, to their patients and to their communities that the government recognizes the significant pressures facing hospitals across Ontario including the four QHC hospitals.
