We’re a week away from election night but voters across the region headed to advance polls this past weekend.
Belleville Clerk Matt MacDonald says 831 ballots were cast at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre on Saturday, which is down about 50% from the 2014 election.
But MacDonald notes that year there were separate advance polls in Belleville proper and in Thurlow, while this year the advance poll was consolidated to one spot.
He adds that online voting has been steady as well.
In Prince Edward County 1,432 had either cast ballots at one of four advance polls, or online, which represents just over 6% of the electorate.
Those numbers are up from four years ago.
And in Quinte West, a little more than 1,000 people voted at advance polls on the weekend, which is less than in 2014, but with one less advance voting day being held.
Online voting continues through the end of the week.
