Two staff members at Collins Bay Institution were injured after an assault by an inmate.
Acting Assistant Warden Heather Hyndman says the incident happened around 10:45 on Wednesday night, in the medium security unit and that both staff members were treated at an outside hospital for their injuries.
Hyndman says “the assailants have been identified and the appropriate actions are being taken”, with the Joint Force Penitentiary Squad currently investigating.
The Correctional Service of Canada will also be reviewing the circumstances of the assault and take appropriate measures to prevent a similar incident from happening.
