The Belleville Chamber of Commerce will present its case for a Santa Claus parade route that doesn’t run down Front Street in the downtown at city council’s meeting Tuesday.
The Hastings Prince Edward School Board will not allow the former Quinte Secondary School property to be used as a mustering point as it’s now up for sale, forcing a reconsideration of the parade’s route.
Also, emergency responders have expressed concern about turns and twists in the route leading through downtown and access problems when Front Street is shut down to traffic.
The Chamber is suggesting a temporary straight west-east route running from the fairgrounds to the Bayview Mall for the November 18 parade.
