A long serving member of the Town of Deseronto’s council is asking people to not vote for him despite the fact that his name will appear on ballot
in the municipal elections coming October 22.
Clarence Zieman says he’s come to the realization that it’s time for “new blood” on Deseronto council.
Below is a quote taken from councillor Zieman’s Facebook page.
To the Electors of Deseronto
After much time and deliberation I have decided to withdraw from this year’s Deseronto Municipal Election. Although my name will appear on the ballot I will be asking as many Deseronto residents as I can contact to not vote for me and instead select three of the four remaining candidates.
My decision was based on several factors. The most important one is that there are three new candidates seeking election and the Council deserves “new blood”. I have spent a total of 24 years serving the Municipality of Deseronto and it is time to step aside. When I initially registered three days before the deadline no one had put forth their name as a candidate for the office of Councillor. Had I been able to withdraw at the deadline I certainly would have done so.
It has been my honour and pleasure to have served the Town of Deseronto and I would ask all my Facebook friends to spread the word of my decision.
Thank you and may God Bless our Town of Deseronto.
