The system of vision screening for young school children will be changed this year, but it’s still not clear what that will mean.
The provincial government has indicated a change of direction and put the responsibility on the public health unit.
Hastings Prince Edward Medical Officer of Health Dr. Peter Oglaza says the screening will be done in kindergarten and grade one, but he still hasn’t received complete directions from the province.

Oglaza tells Quinte News he will be meeting with the regional Lions Clubs that have been carrying out the screening in the past.
