Six individuals and one team will join the Belleville Sports Hall of Fame tomorrow.
Joining the Shrine is three-time Pan American Games slalom water skiing gold medalist Andrew Ross. Drew also won a silver medal in Slalom at the 2001 World Championships in Italy and was a four-time winner on the Professional Ski Tour. Ross held the Canadian Open Slalom record from 1991 to 2016. Ross was also a four-time winner on the Professional Ski Tour.
Quinte Secondary School’s Dennis Stark was a four-time Ontario High School Track and Field gold medalist in cross country running. He also won four NCAA Division 1 Cross Country races and earned All American honours while at Tennessee University. Stark won three consecutive Southern Conference Cross Country Championships.
The 1988 Belleville Enright Midget Girls’ Softball team becomes the fifth team to be inducted. They won the Ontario Championships then finished second to British Columbia at the Nationals.
Also joining the “Class of 2018” are James Hurst, Terry Wellesley, Brian Price and Andrew Raycroft.
Induction ceremonies will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the gymnasium at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. The public is welcome to attend.
