The Ottawa Senators open training camp today which also means the Belleville Senators do as well.
Twenty-four of the 57 players in Ottawa’s camp played at least one game in Belleville last season. Realistically as many as 28 could be with the AHL team during their second season at the Yardmen Arena.
Players will report for medicals and physical fitness testing at the Canadian Tire Centre this morning. On-ice practices and scrimmages begin at the Bell Sensplex tomorrow. The team will be separated into two units before evolving into NHL and AHL groups. The camp will move to Belleville on September 24. The full 57-player roster is listed below.
The B-Sens will host the Laval Rocket (Montreal Canadiens) for a pair of exhibition games September 28 and 29 before opening the season October 6 in Utica against the Comets. (Vancovuer Canucks)
Belleville’s home opener is Wednesday October 17 against the Binghamton Devils. (New Jersey Devils).
