The Quinte Labour Council is joining others in Ontario this Saturday and holding a Day of Action event in support of a $15 an hour minimum wage.
In a release, the Labour Council says the big business lobby is trying to stop the increase to $15 an hour of the minimum wage which is to come into effect on January 1.
The Day of Action marks the 15-week period leading up to the $15 an hour pay rate.
The Progressive Conservative government has said it will delay any increase from the current $14 an hour and instead eliminate taxes for minimum wage earners.
The Day of Action rally will be held at MPP Todd Smith’s office at 5503 Highway 62 in Rossmore, starting at 12 p.m. Saturday.
