Firefighters in Belleville will be sporting a new look soon.
During a 9/11 ceremony in Belleville Tuesday morning, Belleville Fire Chief Mark MacDonald
announced the department would be taking part in the Red Friday’s campaign, organized by the 4th Canadian Rifles Association.
On Fridays, firefighters and civilians working in the department will be wearing red.
Chief MacDonald says emergency services personnel suffer a lot of stress and are much more likely to
take their own lives, hurting not only themselves, but their families and co-workers.
You’ll see the “Red Fridays” flag being flown at the Belleville Fire Department headquarters. Other programs will be coming soon in support of first responders and it’s hoped other area emergency service organizations will also take part.
