Bancroft OPP officers certainly did their part to keep area roads safe over the Labour Day long weekend.
Along with the 73 calls for service over the long weekend, officers also laid 52 charges as part of the long-weekend safety initiative, part of more than 2,000 laid across the OPP’s east region during the three-day span.
Thirty-one of those charges were for speeding, with a handful of other tickets handed out for various traffic violations.
Bancroft officers also laid 15 distracted driving charges last weekend, the most of any detachment within the east region.
