The Chair of the Hastings Prince Edward Board of Health says the board’s goal is to “reach a contract agreement with its nurses” who are in a legal strike position later this month.
Members of the Ontario Nurses Association working for the health unit are in the mediation stage on their employment contract with the board and will be in a legal strike position on September 25.
Following the board meeting in Belleville Wednesday, Board Chair Maureen Piercy spoke to Quinte News.

Medical officer of Health Peter Oglaza stressed an optimistic position.
Oglaza says there will be more meetings before the September 25 deadline and negotiations will continue.
He indicated the two sides are waiting for the province to appoint a mediator.
