Members of the Ontario Nurses’ Association will be holding an information picket ouside of the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health office in Belleville tomorrow morning.
More than 40 nurses who work for the health unit are seeking community support as they try to avoid being forced on strike as part of an ongoing labour dispute.
The staff members, which include nurses, registered nurses and registered practical nurses have been working without a contract since December 31, 2017 and are urging the board of health to “provide a bargaining mandate that respects the values of the ONA and its members”.
The info picket will take place at 9:00 a.m., just before the board of health is scheduled to hold its regular meeting, at the North Park Street headquarters.
The ONA represents more than 65,000 health care professionals and 16,000 nursing student affiliates across the province.
