A late-night robbery at a local gas station has led to charges for a Toronto man.
At 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Belleville Police responded to an incident at the Ten Acre Truck Stop Gas Bar on Wallbridge Loyalist Road.
Upon investigation, officers discovered that the suspect had grabbed the female employee’s cell phone and debit card after she denied his demands to give him money from the till.
The woman was able to wrestle back her phone as the suspect fled from the store with her debit card.
The man was apprehended by another employee and held for police.
Alcohol was a factor in the incident. No one was injured.
Thirty-two-year-old Shih-Chien Chien was charged with robbery and later released back to the Toronto area with a promise to appear in Belleville Court in early October.
