The Belleville Police Service responded to 72 calls for service between August 23, 2018 at 5 a.m. and August 24, 2018 at 5 a.m.
Frauds
Several more fraudulent acts have surfaced in the Belleville area.
On August 23, 2018 a homeowner was contacted by phone that he had won a car. The homeowner was required to go to his bank to transfer $385 to the caller to cover the registration fees for the new vehicle. The homeowner made some inquiries and learned that this was fraudulent.
Later in the day a woman attended at the station to report fraudulent activity in several advertisements listing houses for rent. In three instances the homes she checked out were all listed for sale. There were no rental listings. People are urged to physically check out all rental properties before advancing any money.
Arrests
On August 23, 2018, at 5:03 p.m., a 57-year-old Belleville woman was arrested at the station on outstanding warrants held by Quinte West OPP. The woman was turned to over to the OPP.
On August 23, 2018, at 9:43 p.m. officers attended on Pine Street regarding an unwanted person at a residence. The 30-year-old Belleville woman was arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace. Alcohol was a factor in this incident. No one was injured.
On August 23, 2018, at 10:25 p.m. officers attended at the Quinte Mall in relation to a male sitting on the curb drinking from a liquor bottle. The male was yelling at people who were walking by. An 18-year-old Prince Edward County man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. His bottle of liquor was seized and he was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and underage drinking. He was issued two provincial offence notices.
Motor vehicle Collisions
On August 23, 2018 police investigated six motor vehicle collisions. Five of the accidents were deemed to be minor in nature.
At 8:35 p.m. officers attended at a two-car collision on North Front Street at Donald Street. There were no reported injuries. A 30-year-old Belleville woman was charged with careless driving.
