A CC-130J Hercules crew from CFB Trenton is part of the relief team assisting with a string of wildfires in BC.
The province declared a state of emergency yesterday and the crew and aircraft from 436 Transport Squadron has headed out in support of Operation Lentus.
The aircraft first flew to Bagotville, Quebec to pick up members of the Airfield Activation Surge Team and then to BC, where it will continue to provide transport for firefighting personnel and equipment.
Captain Trevor Reid with 8 Wing Public Affairs says the situation remains fluid and more help from Trenton could be on the way, but for now it’s just the one aircraft and its crew taking part in the support mission.
