The Belleville Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies are one month away with the addition of six individuals and a team. Part of the program will include the naming of the McDonalds Restaurant Male and Female Athletes of the Year. The nominees won Athlete of the Year honours at their respective high schools at the end of last season.
They are:
From Bayside Secondary, Paige O’Gorman and Angelo Knappett. From Centennial the nominees are Anna Davidson and Carson Waite. Erin Locke and Matt Birchard are the last representatives of Moira Secondary as we know it, while Joleen Mason and Jack Whitley are the last nominees ever from Quinte Secondary. Nominees from Nicholson are Amy Vieira and Bobby Buck. Jasmyn Stoffers and Matt Lammers are nominees of Quinte Christian. Also, Sarah Kay and Connor Milroy from St. Theresa and Tyson Purdy from Sir James Whitney are nominees.
The Belleville Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies will be held on Saturday September 15 in the Dr. R.L. Vaughan Atrium at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
This years inductees include former NHL goaltender Andrew Raycroft, track star Dennis Stark, water ski champion Andrew Ross, Olympic gold medal rower Brian Price, former CFLer Terry Wellesley, builder James Hurst and the 1988 Belleville Enright Midget Girls Softball team.
