Belleville firefighters and public works staff are working to clean up a significant diesel fuel spill this morning (Monday) in the parking lot of Planet Fitness on Bell Boulevard.
Shortly after 6 o’clock the driver of a tractor trailer pulled into the lot to repair a flat tire and hit a light standard which in turn ruptured a fuel tank.
About 900 litres of diesel fuel is involved with some entering the sanitary sewer system.
No one was injured.
It’s expected crews will finish their cleanup by mid-morning.
