Personnel with 424 Search and Rescue Squadron, the Canadian Coast Guard Cape Hearn and Coast Guard Auxiliary Wellington all helped in the rescue of stranded boater and his dog yesterday morning (Monday).
The boat became grounded twice in the waters of Lake Ontario off Point Petre in Prince Edward County.
After the boat grounded the second time, the water was too shallow for a marine rescue so a Griffon helicopter from 424 Squadron was called in.
SAR Techs dropped down into the water and found a solid rock bar to help the man and his dog get to shore safely where a helicopter was waiting for them.
There were no injuries.
