There has been give and take between developers, the public, and the City of Belleville and it could lead to a new highrise apartment building.
Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee asked for more discussion on a proposed six-storey, 103-unit apartment building at Station and Albion Streets at its meeting last month.
There were concerns about access on Station Street, parking, and possible flooding.
The developers subsequently met with residents living in the area.
An amended application featuring more landscaped area, more parking and access changes will be before the planning committee Tuesday.
The new application calls for 35% of the property to be landscaped and 140 off-street parking spots.
Despite increases in landscaping and parking availability, the plan still falls a bit short of zoning regulations in both areas, however staff is recommending it be approved.
The building would feature some commercial space on the ground floor.
Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee meets Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 at city hall.
