The second of seven historical plaques dedicated to history in Hastings County will be unveiled on Friday afternoon.
The Hastings County Historical Society will install the bronze plaque to honour six generations of the Chisholm family that for 161 years have run a fully integrated wood products operation on the banks of the Moira River in Roslin.
Society President Richard Hughes tells Quinte News, “In pioneer days most towns and villages actually grew up around mills. This mill has been an employer and has contributed to the area for 160 years, by the same family and expanded it to a very large operation today.”
The Society recognizes the history of the mill from its beginning to its present operation.
The public is invited to the plaque unveiling at Chisholm’s Mill, in Roslin, at 2 p.m. on Friday.
