UPDATE @ 4:00 p.m. Thursday: Via Rail has confirmed an incident on the tracks near Trenton.
A Via spokesperson says Train #42 travelling eastbound from Toronto to Ottawa has been stopped and authorities are on site conducting an investigation.
Via’s operations between Toronto and Ottawa and Toronto and Montreal, are affected in both directions, with train numbers 644, 53 and 65 all currently stopped.
The spokesperson says there is no set time when traffic will be resuming.

Traffic delays are to be expected on County Road 40 in Quinte West after an incident involving a Via Rail train early Thursday afternoon.
Reports to Quinte News say one person was killed after being struck by an eastbound train.
No information has been released on the identity of the victim.
Traffic is backed up in both directions on County Road 40 and train service has been delayed as emergency crews work at the scene.
