(Issac Shire – 2 t.d.s)
The Quinte Skyhawks junior varsity football team rolled into Sudbury and steamrolled the hometown Gladiators 34-0. That’s back to back road victories for the Skyhawks who are in their first year in the Ontario Football Conference.
Isaac Shire returned a fumble 40 yards for one of his two touchdowns. Quarterback Carter Stephens sent touchdown passes to Austin Wood and Jaylen Rose. Tom Cavan kicked two field goals.
Skyhawks Head Coach Peter Gabriel said he was ” “Proud of our guys back to back road game wins!. I said at the beginning of the year that we might surprise some people and I think we have done that, being 3-4 in our first year, I couldn’t be more proud of our boys and the Skyhawks organization.” Gabriel added “I Can’t say enough what Coach (Scott) Shortly has done with our defence this year! Shortly and all the defensive coaches giving up no touchdowns and less then 100 yards of offence, very impressive!”
Quinte closes out their inaugural season at home this Saturday at 1 against the Etobicoke Eagles at Mary Ann Sills Park.
