The Ottawa Senators Foundation has remained committed to helping active children in the Quinte community.
With help from the Belleville Senators organization, the Sens Foundation paid a visit and donated a $10,000 cheque to the YMCA Belleville Strong Kids Campaign, through a grant from the Sens Camperships Fund on Wednesday. This $10,000 donation is expected to send 71 kids to one week of summer camp.
General Manager of the YMCA Belleville branch Amanda Smith says they were informed of the grant by one of their contacts at the Kingston YMCA branch last year and were encouraged to apply for it.
After applying, Smith says they received $7,500 from the Sens Foundation.
In total, the YMCA has received $17,500 from the Sens Foundation over the last two years.
She adds the partnership between the Foundation and the YMCA is very valuable.
As part of the event, young campers entertained the dignitaries with songs, dances, a gymnastics performance and a mini hockey game, while Ottawa Senators mascot Spartacat also appeared to entertain and energize the crowd.
