An RCAF Griffon helicopter crew and a well-prepared hiking group both played big roles in a medical evacuation in Northern Ontario on Saturday.
The crew from CFB Trenton noticed a signal fire from the group, alerting them to an injured hiker in Lady Evelyn Provincial Park, about an hour northwest of North Bay.
The patient was flown to hospital in Sudbury.
