Three Belleville Police Special Constables have been honoured for their long-standing service.
Special Constables Harry Burley, William Smith and Roy Matacheskie were presented with Peace Officer Exemplary Service Medals by Chief Ron Gignac on Thursday.
All three are part of the team working at the Quinte Consolidated Courthouse, performing prisoner transport and court security duties.
Special Constable Burley took his current position in 2001, after starting as an auxiliary member with Belleville Police in 1988.
Special Constable Smith also took on his current role in 2001, starting with Belleville Police as an auxiliary member in 1990 and Special Constable Matacheskie also started with the police force in 1988, but earned his current rank in 2003.
The award was created in 2004 and is given to peace officers with 20 years of exemplary service, or after 10 years spent performing duties with potential risk.
