There was no comment from Belleville’s mayor on breakfast meetings with a few councillors that are now under investigation following a citizen’s complaint.
A closed-meeting investigator, Amberley Gravel Ltd., through the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, is looking into meetings that occurred at Eggquis restaurant at the Bell Front Street Mall at Bell Boulevard.
They involved Mayor Taso Christopher and Councillors Egerton Boyce, Mike Graham and Garnet Thompson.
Following the city council meeting Monday night, Quinte News asked Mayor Christopher for a comment and his answer was short.
A citizen has complained the breakfast meetings were regular throughout 2016 and 2017 but the councillors have said no city business was discussed during them.
