Things are looking good for the United Way of Hastings and Prince Edward.
At their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday evening, Treasurer Jessica Longlade told the Board of Directors and those in attendance, the United Way began their new financial year with a significant surplus.
Executive Director Kathy Murphy says despite falling short of their $1.96 million goal last year, they were still able to support their more than 75 organizations.
The not for profit organization has a fund balance of $536,558 for 2018 with a contingency fund of $240,305.
Joe Folk, the Belleville P&G Plant Manager spoke at the AGM and detailed why it is so important for the company to give back.
The Belleville P&G plant has donated two million dollars to the United Way in the last four years.
Murphy says this kind of leadership makes sure no one is left behind.
The meeting also saw new faces join the Board of Directors and some familiar names leaving.
Directors leaving include Brenda Pergantes, Bruce Laughton, Carol Wannamaker, Danny Nickle, Scott Elder and Steve Gatward.
New to the Board of Directors are Anne-Marie Murphy, Elvin Green, Margaret Bourgoin, Jeff Hohenkerk, Collen Dupuis and Anne Dawson.
