You could say these bankers will be in bed with each other, but it will all be for a good cause.
The second annual Banker’s Bed Races raising money for new patient beds at Trenton Memorial Hospital will be run Saturday, July 21 in downtown Trenton during the Festival on the Bay.
Leon’s Superstore Trenton is a major sponsor of the event along with Kawartha Credit Union, Quinte First Credit Union, Scotiabank, TD Bank, the Rotary Club of Trenton, 24 Canadian Forces Health Services Centre Trenton, and the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The goal of the event is to raise at least $32,000 in order to buy four new acute care beds for TMH.
Seven of ten available beds have been spoken for by the financial institutions and others but there is still room for three other teams to come forward to race and raise money.
Leon’s will be donating $25 to the cause for every mattress over a set value that’s sold as well as offering a way to donate on the Leon’s Trenton website.
Donations can also be made from now until race day at the various banks involved.
Leon’s Trenton Sales Manager Brad Hedges says the company is proud to help in the community, adding everyone will use the services of the local hospital at one time or another.
