The Belleville Police Service responded to 75 calls for service between June 12, 2018 at 5 a.m. and June 13, 2018 at 5 a.m.
Theft of a scooter
On June 12, 2018, at 1 p.m. police attended on Station Street in relation to a stolen scooter. The scooter was stolen between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. It is described as a burgundy Venturer Deluxe mobility scooter. It has a basket on the front. Any information can be forwarded to Cst. McGee or Quinte Crimestoppers.
Bail Violations
On June 13, 2018, at 1 a.m. an officer on patrol on Geddes Street recognized a couple walking together. The officer had arrested both of them on June 5, 2018 for the offence of assault causing bodily harm. Both had been released on bail with conditions which included: remain under house arrest, no contact with each other, and not to consume alcohol. Both were arrested and charged with three counts each for breaching their respective recognizances. The 42-year-old Belleville man and 41-year-old Belleville woman will appear together for bail on June 13, 2018.
Fraud charges
On February 5, 2018, police commenced a fraud investigation into money missing from a bank account. A 22-year-old Belleville woman had reported to police that unknown persons had withdrawn the money from her account. She swore to an affidavit at the bank that she did not withdraw the money. A search warrant was conducted for the bank records and video surveillance from the ATM area. The video confirmed that she did indeed take the money. A warrant was issued for her arrest for fraud under $5000, swearing to a false affidavit, and breach of probation.
Arrested on warrants
On June 13, 2018, at 4:10 a.m. officers were on a call on Victoria Avenue when they recognized a 39-year-old Belleville woman who was wanted on warrants by the Napanee OPP. The charges include trafficking in a controlled substance, failing to appear in court and breach of probation. She was turned over to the OPP.
