A study is getting underway to review Belleville’s fire department making recommendations towards a new Fire Master Plan for the city.
City council recently awarded a contract at $61,720 plus HST to Pomax Consulting for the review.
Fire Chief Mark MacDonald says the idea is to have an independent third party review the department’s standard practices and guidelines and what is expected by the public.

#2 FIRE CHIEF STUDY
He added, “They’ll be talking to frontline firefighters, chief officers and other municipal department staff. gathering information from the official plan. They will study how Belleville has grown, where it continues to grow, and where the needs are changing. They will look at the demographics, average age of the citizens and what needs to have met, based on their current situation in life.”
The study is expected to be completed early in 2019.
