The Belleville Downtown Business Improvement Area Board of Directors has enthusiastically jumped onboard the new
historical trolley bus which begins service June 1.
The board unanimously voted to become a major sponsor with an investment of $5,000 Wednesday.
The BDIA’s logo will be prominently displayed on the sides and back of the specially wrapped tour bus, and downtown
attractions will also be advertised on an audio track that will run on the bus. There will also be social media support and logos on
the signage at stops along the route.
The BDIA will also receive trolley tickets to give out to people. Other sponsors will also have tickets on offer. All hotels in the city
will be offering trolley tickets and a brochure free of charge to their guests.
People without tickets to the tourist trolley will pay the regular fare of $2.50 which is charged on all city transit buses.
The historical trolley bus will run from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on a one hour route travelling to various points of interest in Belleville,
including three stops in the downtown.
Other stops will include Glanmore House, Corby Rose Garden, Quinte Mall, the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, Meyers Pier, and
Shorelines Casino.
The casino is the title sponsor and the bus will be known as the Shorelines Shuttle.
Belleville city council set aside a little over $30,000 in this year’s budget to get the trolley tour rolling.
