The Belleville Police Service responded to 46 calls between May 21, 2018 at 5 a.m. and May 22, 2018 at 5 a.m.
Domestic disputes
Police attended to two domestic disputes within the preceding 24-hour period. On May 21, 2018 at 7:30 a.m. attention was drawn to a residence on the west hill where a man and a woman were found arguing. After speaking with police one of the involved decided to leave the residence for the day. There was no report of any physical contact or injury.
On May 21, 2018 at 5:14 p.m. police responded to a second call about a man and a woman shoving and punching one another in the Sidney Street and Moira Street West area. Descriptions of the man and woman were given. Police responded and searched the area, however nobody matching the given descriptions was observed. No further calls were received about this.
On May 21, 2018 at 11:22 p.m. police were called to a residence in the south portion of the city for a report of an unwanted person. An investigation revealed that both a man and his female partner resided at the address. After discussion with police the man opted to leave for the evening. Nobody was charged, and nobody was injured.
Disturb the peace
On May 21, 2018 at 7:51 p.m. police attended to a dispute in the east hill area of the city. Information received indicated that some neighbours had become involved in trying to help keep the peace. Police learned the dispute involved an animal who was unwanted and roaming freely on or near one person’s property. A man and a woman were separated on police arrival. Both were spoken to and a 26-year-old city woman received a caution from police regarding her behaviour.
Mischief to vehicle
On May 21, 2018 at 9:10 p.m. police were called to investigate a car which had its front windshield smashed. An investigation revealed a young male, who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act was responsible. The windshield was completely destroyed. There was no report of any injury. A 16-year-old male is wanted in connection to this event on a charge of mischief – under $5,000.
Prowler
On May 22, 2018 at 1:22 a.m. police attended to the mid-west portion of the city for a report of an unknown male suspect attempting to enter a vehicle parked in the caller’s driveway. The complainant was able to yell at the male who ran off in a northbound direction towards College Street East. The male was described as wearing a hoodie, with a thin build, and about 5’9” in height. Anyone with information about this is asked to please contact investigating officer Cst. Other
Police responded to other minor noise complaints, landlord and tenant issues, alarms, assisting ambulance, and a total of six 911 call/hang-ups. All locations and callbacks to phones were connected with by police. All were deemed to be non-emergent in nature either by an accidental dial / pocket dial.
