Brighton council will see a report with recommendations on how to better keep track of major infrastructure projects.
Auditors BDO investigated the major upgrades done at Alice and Dundas Streets, a project which ended up $235,000 over budget, upsetting some on council.
The report suggests much of the project, done by Cobourg Developments, was handled properly from a financial perspective.
However, near the end some of the change orders made weren’t shown to municipal staff or council and council never knew about or approved some of the work leading to the overage.
BDO suggests a number of ways to tighten controls on future projects.
Brighton council meets Tuesday evening at 6:30.
