The long weekend got off to a rough start for motorists here in Belleville.
During the morning commute on Friday, Belleville Police police attended the area of Dundas Street West at Bay Bridge Road as a pedestrian had been struck by a car. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian was running to catch the bus when he tripped and fell into traffic. Police say he was run over by a car at this point. The male adult pedestrian was transported to hospital by paramedics with minor injuries. There were no charges.
Around 9:45 a.m. police attended at the intersection of Church Street and Victoria Avenue regarding a two-car accident. One motorist was charged with disobeying a red light. There were no injuries.
Shortly after noon, police attended at the intersection of North Front Street and Tracey Street in relation to a two-car accident. Belleville Fire Department attended as smoke was billowing from one of the vehicles. There were no injuries and the investigation is continuing.
Just before 4 p.m. officers attended at the intersection of Dundas Street East and MacDonald Avenue in relation to a two-car accident. One motorist was charged with disobeying a red light. There were no injuries.
