A hydro company that supplies power to Belleville and that the city owns a 13% stake in, has been recognized for its efforts to improve worker safety.
Veridian Connections is celebrating two million hours without a lost-time workplace injury which covers more than five years of safe work by 220 employees.
The Infrastructure Health and Safety Association presented Veridian with a president’s award to mark the achievement.
Veridian President Michael Angemeer credited the workers, the company’s board of directors and the union for committing to “a culture where safety is a core value”.
The stretch without a lost-time workplace injury dates back to January of 2013.
