The Belleville Police Service have two new pieces of equipment to help them do their job.
A new Automated Licence Plate Recognition System is in the fleet, along with a large covered utility trailer.
Officer Brad Stitt of the Traffic Safety Unit says there are about 30 plate systems province-wide, and Belleville now has three.
The plate system costs about $45,000, the trailer $10,000.
International Truckload Services COO Rob Haggarty says he donated money, because the plate system makes roads safer.
Police Chief Ron Gignac says the trailer can be used for community events, or in investigations and operations. It can hold ATVs, or other equipment needed on scene, or tables, chairs, and more for the 28 community events the attend annually.
Dennis McCullough (Canadian Tire), Peter Smith (Peter Smith GM), Ross McDougall (McDougall Insurance), Rob Haggarty (International Truckload Services), and Mark Hanley (Hanley Corporation/Tim Hortons) donated the money for the system, while John Sherrat (Starboard Communications) covered the cost of the new utility trailer.
