The Mayor of Quinte West will run again in the October municipal election.
Mayor Jim Harrison told a group of about 30 people, including several councillors, at Smylie’s Independent that he and his wife Jane have loved serving the city in the past term.
The mayor again stressed the importance of “working together,” both within Quinte West and with neighbouring communities to get things done.
Examples of success from working together were OurTMH, the Regional Marketing Board and the yet-to-be-built regional hospice.
For now, Harrison’s only opponent is current councillor Duncan Armstrong.
The former Trenton High School teacher and coach made his announcement to seek the mayor’s job, via social media, late last week.
Meanwhile, a few more names have been entered into local councillor races as well.
Tyler Rickey, who has a background in business, law and human resources, is seeking a seat in Trenton Ward in Quinte West.
And in Prince Edward County, current councillor Brad Nieman has jumped into a crowded race in Bloomfield/Hallowell Ward, while Jamie Forrester has filed to run and retain his seat in Athol Ward.
