A CFB Trenton Griffon Helicopter had to stray from another mission today to rescue a pair of hunters in Nunavut.
The chopper from 424 Squadron was taking part in Operation Lentus, an exercise for response to natural disasters like wildfires and floods, when it got the call to help the hunters, who became stranded by high water levels on Akimiski Island.
424 Squadron officials say the hunters were taken to Attawapiskat and are in good condition, with the helicopter returning to its original mission.
