The Hastings Prince Edward Public Heath is preparing for the expected new federal legislation on marijuana.
There is already provincial legislation in place that requires public health to get involved in the marijuana issue.
Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Gemmell told the Board of Health Wednesday the health unit will be involved in public education and the education of doctors as well.
Gemmell says the health unit’s role would also involve the rules around sale of cannabis to minors.
