Central Hastings OPP have released their results from April’s Gun Amnesty Month Initiative.
The province-wide program, in cooperation with municipal police forces, gave people the option of handing over unwanted or illegal guns, ammunition or explosives, without any criminal penalties.
Those firearms and ammunition were then safely destroyed.
Central Hastings OPP say eleven firearms were surrendered during the month, which will enhance public safety in the area.
Result numbers from Belleville Police are expected to be released Wednesday and other OPP detachments will put out theirs in the coming days.
