A $1.5 million Belleville Transit construction project got underway today.
A groundbreaking ceremony at the Belleville Transit Garage on Coleman Street took place this (Monday) morning.
Paul Buck, the manager of transit operations says this project will do more than just allow them to store all their vehicles.
The expansion project is funded by the city and by federal funding.
Gay Company Limited will be undertaking the expansion project.
Mayor Taso Christopher says this expansion is a great thing for the city and the transit riders.

Buck says this isn’t a complicated build as they simply require a new floor, three walls and a roof.
The project is expected to be completed by August of this year.
