The Belleville Police Service responded to 64 calls between April 28, 2018 at 5 a.m. and April 29, 2018 at 5 a.m.
Motor vehicle collisions
Belleville, Ontario – City police responded to four motor vehicle collisions within the preceding 24-hour period. Two were securely managed at the Belleville Police Service’s Collision Reporting Centre, while a third occurred in a business parking lot at the north end of the city. There was property damage only and no injuries.
On April 18, 2018 at 10:22 p.m. police responded to a collision in the College Street West and Shamrock Road area. Nobody was injured and a tow truck was called in to assist. Police noted there was property damage to the vehicles only. An 18-year-old male was charged with left turn fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
911 call/911 hang-up
Belleville, Ontario – Police attended to seven 911 call/911 hang-ups within the last 24 hours. Locations of all calls were tracked back to various addresses. Police were able to confirm that all calls were dialed in error / mistake. Nobody was found to be in any distress.
Domestic disturbances
Belleville, Ontario – On April 28, 2018 at 7:52 p.m. police responded to a domestic dispute in the central portion of the city. Investigation revealed an argument only occurred within the home of a man and woman. There were no injuries and nothing was damaged. Police assisted the couple in settling their differences for the night.
A second dispute occurred at 3:25 a.m. on April 29, 2018 at an east end residence. Police responded and spoke to a couple who were heard having an argument. The people were separated and spoken with. They were able to settle their differences for the night and agreed to discuss the matters later in the day. Nobody was injured and there was no damage reported within the home.
Neighbourhood dispute
Belleville, Ontario – On April 28, 2018 at 4:21 p.m. police responded to the east end portion of the city for a reported dispute between two female adults who reside in the same area. Another call was then received that approximately four males and two females were physically fighting in the street. Another female was seen driving away from the altercation in a sliver vehicle just prior to police arrival. Although there were no reported injuries or cooperating witnesses, police are continuing the investigation. Liquor arrest
Belleville, Ontario – On April 29, 2018 at 2:35 a.m. police were called to the North Front Street and Bell Blvd area for a report of a fight. The involved people were separated upon police arrival and sent on their way. One male, a 21-year-old Quinte West man wanted to continue his involvement. He was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place under the authority of the Liquor Licence Act and was taken into police custody for his own protection and the protection of others. He was released on a Provincial Offence Notice once sober.
Other
Belleville, Ontario – Police attended to numerous other calls for assistance including noise complaints, traffic complaints, unwanted persons, alarms, assisting ambulance calls, and calls for suspicious persons. All occurrences were investigated and solved without arrest or charge. All alarms turned out to be false, and any unwanted people left their existing areas upon police request without further incident.
