According to one developer in Prince Edward County, he can’t build any more homes in Wellington.
Conrad Guziewicz appeared on Thursday at the Committee of the Whole meeting in Picton.
He told those around the horseshoe there is a dire situation in Wellington regarding water pressure.
Guziewicz says while there is enough water to the village, it’s the lack of pressure that is stopping him from being able to build.
The issue just came to light less than a month ago the developer said.
The issue is big enough he can’t build any more homes; zero is what he told councillors specifically.
Councillor Janice Maynard asked when the capital upgrades need to be done by to which he responded “immediately”.
Guziewicz told council any solution is better than nothing, but he is looking for tactical and practical solutions.
Councillor Roy Pennell suggested a booster pump.
Guziewicz says staff told him a water tower would fix the issue.
Councillor Dianne O’Brien says this issue flies in the face of everything they as a council stand for in trying to grow their residential population in the county.
CAO James Hepburn said they are aware of the issue and staff will be bringing a report forward to council.
He told those in chambers the system in Wellington wasn’t designed for all the growth the village is experiencing.
Hepburn said they were unaware of the severity until recently and the report which he hopes to have in time for the May 15th meeting should have strategic solutions.
