The Wellington Dukes are one win away from OJHL supremacy.
Andrew Rinaldi’s goal with over 5-and-a-half minutes to play in the third period proved to be the difference as the Dukes edged the Georgetown Raiders 3-2 to take a 3-2 series lead in the Buckland Cup Final.
The Montreal, Quebec native’s goal came in his first game back after missing the previous eight with an injury.
Bryce Yetman and Teddy McGeen each recorded a goal and an assist and Jonah Capriotti returned to form in net, stopping 41 of 43 Raider shots.
Mack Warren and Colin Doyle added single assists.
Dukes assistant coach Derek Smith says the players response after back-to-back lopsided losses in Games 3 and 4 was a good one.
The Dukes can clinch the Buckland Cup for the third time in franchise history in front of what’s sure to be a large crowd tonight at Essroc Arena.
Smith says that will be a motivation for the team.
Game time is 7:30 p.m., if you can’t make it out to the rink, CJBQ will have broadcast coverage beginning at 7:20 for Prinzen Ford Sales of Bloomfield.
