The provincial Ministry of Environment will begin testing the waters of Oak Lake next week to see if water quality has been adversely affected by a large spill of pig manure into the lake back in February.
The kettle lake’s water will be tested from various locations. It isn’t known how long the MOE will continue the program.
Residents along Oak Lake have been testing their drinking water regularily since the spill.
Meawhile, the City of Quinte West is considering a year long water testing regimen on Oak Lake as well.
One hundred thousand dollars has been set aside in this year’s budget to pay for it.
