Belleville Council could be increasing the cost of a controversial infrastructure project by major dollars.
At Monday’s meeting, councillors will be asked to increase the budget for the Haig Road and Station Street project by $1 million.
They will look over a report which outlines the need for more money, because original specs never took into account street lighting and curbing, among other items.
The new project cost of $3.14 million (plus HST) will include improved drainage as well as include increased cost due to inflation.
The project has been on the books since 1975.
Staff is recommending council award the tender to Dekayser Excavating of Colborne.
Belleville Council meets at 4 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
