Construction crews have started the home stretch of the $30 million Belleville reconstruction project.
On Monday morning, workers blocked off part of McAnnany Street beside city hall to get started.
Work will continue all summer and into October and will feature underground and surface upgrades to Market Square and Front Street, from Bridge Street to Dundas East.
Because the work will affect parking on Front Street and in Market Square, the city is offering free two-hour parking on Pinnacle Street between Bridge Street East and Dundas East, and on Bridge Street East between Front and Pinnacle Streets.
City staff say that city hall will remain open and accessible throughout the construction period.
