A passenger in a vehicle that contained bear mace and a large knife has been sentenced in a Belleville courtroom.
Thirty-year-old Matthew Brushey of Belleville pleaded guilty to possession of drugs and was given a suspended sentence and six months probation. Weapons charges against him were withdrawn.
In September of last year, a car was stopped after speeding at the Bayview Mall and Belleville police officers found the mace and the knife. Crystal meth was also seized.
The driver, 33-year-old Aaron Hills of Trenton faces weapons and obstructing police charges.
He remains before the courts.
