A hat trick from Nick Paul wasn’t quite enough for the Belleville Senators in a 4-3 loss to the Laval Rocket Saturday night at Yardmen Arena.
The B-Sens had a 3-2 lead going into the final frame, but two quick goals from the Rocket in period three handed the local unit their fourth straight loss.
Goaltender Marcus Hogberg made 26 saves in a losing cause for Belleville.
Paul says it was an encouraging effort from the team against a tough Laval group.
Head Coach Kurt Kleinendorst says the coaching staff “freshened things up” for last night’s contest and it seemed to liven up the team.
New forward Eric Selleck played his first game with the club and was impressed with the fan support in the Quinte region.
Next game for Belleville is a rare Tuesday night affair, as they host the Binghamton Devils for the final time this season. Game time 7:05 p.m, CJBQ has broadcast coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m.
